Oakland’s biggest music festival of the year, Hiero Day lit up the town during this past Labor day weekend, with the weather just right the crowd went wild for some of Hip-Hop’s dopest local and international artists.
At the Third Eye Stage we saw performances from Nx Worries who brought it down with his single Suede. Following Nx Worries we saw some of Bay Area’s flyest; K00l J0hn, P-Lo and the whole HBK gang got the crowd going hyphy when they brought up guest performances from “Big Tymin” Nef the Pharaoh, and IAMSU.
The event gave the festival-goers the opportunity to walk around and visit booths from local businesses to food trucks and even clothing brands. Oaklandish one of Oakland’s neighborhood streetwear brands held it down, selling their exclusive Hiero x Oaklandish tee right by the main Infinity stage where we saw I got 5 on it’s The Luniz, Hieroglyphics and Zion I. If you grew up with parents playing “I GOT 5 ON IT”, then you could imagine how crazy it got when the Luniz hit the stage. The whole audience sang along while lighting up for one of Hip-Hop’s most recognized songs.
Some of the state’s dopest graffiti artists: Pawn Lords, Apex, and That Fly Lord, also made an appearance at Hiero Day. Blessing us with a dope collaboration piece. Their presence definitely made an impact on the culture of Hiero Day making it a memorable one.
Until next year Oakland!
With Love,
