Calling all #NewYearResolutionists: "Get it Right" Smoothie

For all you New Year resolutionists,

I know working out and eating healthier is on your list. So, I want to make it easier for you by sharing some of my recipes and tips. I don’t believe in “hard dieting” but I do believe in nourishing your body with healthy foods. “Eat well, Feel well” is my motto. I believe baby steps are key to getting on a healthier diet, especially if you aren’t use to eating healthier foods. Some people think that cutting out everything bad will work but it usually will have the complete opposite affect. This is because your body has been so prone to eating a certain way so when you cut out all the unhealthy foods your body will go into a shock and you'll start craving all those foods. This will cause you to over indulge when you do eat those foods. I would suggest slowly cutting out the bad foods so that you don’t over indulge. It's all about moderation! You'll get there. For example, starting off with changing your morning habits is a great start. If you aren’t eating breakfast you might want to reconsider that. Eating breakfast is important because it fuels your body up and gives you energy. Without breakfast you can get irritable, tired and restless easier. I am going to share one of my morning smoothie recipes to get you started. I think smoothies are a great way to start your day. Not too heavy and not too light but just right! They’re really simple to make especially if you find yourself rushing in the morning. I call this morning smoothie the "Get it Right" because it's very nutritious and delicious.

"Get it Right" Smoothie

1 cup Almond Milk Unsweetened or Sweetened (which ever you prefer)

1 handful of Spinach

1 handful of Blueberries & Strawberries

1/2 banana

1 spoonful of Chia Seeds or 1 spoonful of Flax Seeds

I like using Almond milk because it’s high in antioxidants, heart healthy (no cholesterol, no saturated fats), high in vitamins and minerals, low in fats and calories, and no animal by products. Probably not safe for anyone who is allergic to Tree nut. Spinach is a super food loaded with tons of nutrients that promote an all around healthier body. Berries are a strong source of antioxidants and vitamin C (which is an excellent immunity booster). Bananas are a source of fiber and protein. Bananas also contain tryptophan, an amino acid that studies suggest plays a role in preserving memory and boosting your mood. Chia seeds are high in protein and fiber. They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which help to raise HDL cholesterol (the good cholesterol that helps protect against heart attack and stroke). Flax seeds are a source of Omega 3 Fatty Acids, Fiber and Lignans (plant estrogen & antioxidant qualities).

This is my Go-To Breakfast Smoothie or midday pick-me-up snack! You can prepare the ingredients in ziplock baggies for a couple days if necessary. I will be sharing more recipes and How-To videos. Comment Below what other recipes you would like to see besides smoothies. Enjoy!

Happy New Year and Happy Eatings!!
